I did exactly that, the hw serial port is the only one connected, and the program originally outputs a header and default parameters after power up. This all works correctly, after every power off/on ... |

Since Microchip recommends using the 2520, and it allows usings its internal RC osc, saving an external Xtal, seemed the right thing to do.
