rs232 garbage @ beginning
PostPosted: Mon Dec 02, 2002 4:53 am     Reply with quote

I have a PIC16F877 using B3,B4 as RS232 TX/RX @ 2400 baud. I have a routine that echo what I type in from a terminal connected to the PC's COM port. It works good, BUT, I get some garbage bytes at the beginning of the ECHO. Also, I can have a simple, printf ("hello world"); and it will display *#$ello world on the terminal. Any ideas?

Maybe you dont use a level converter like max232? Do you use a voltage level converter ic or circuit? If you dont, it is possible to receive or send garbage characters.Rgrds,
