adaptor for the promate |

I own the PROMATE2.
Lately the PROMATE2's adaptor "AC164001" which we use to program pic16c5X stopped functioning. Meanwhile the production department uses the PICSTART PLUS as a programmer. We are aware to the fact that the PICSTART PLUS is not designed for heavy-duty jobs but we have no other choice, since the PIC16C57C is one of the pics we use the most.
I wondered if it is possible to make an adaptor for the promate , here in my lab, something that will serve us while we wait for the new AC164001. We have other adaptors, and I wandered if it is possible to create a self-made connector which will connect the pic16c57c to the adaptor.
Here are other adaptors we have:
AC124001
AC164010
AC164012

Seems to me that if you have the ability to make an adapter, you should be able to repair the one that you have. What's wrong with the defective one? |

I think it has something to do with the fact that this adapter is been used for almost 4-5 years, 300-3000 programminbg a week.... I think that it jest got tierd I mean its contacts ... I dont know... I was suggested by my vendor to buy a new one ( do you think I was lured to buy something I dont need??) |

Well, I didn't look up the model but if it has a zif socket, that is probably the only problem. Unless someone physically damaged the device. |
