LCD display and accents |

Hello everyone,
Im involved in a project in wich lots of text is shown on an LCD.
The equipment will be installed in Brazil, Italy, France and Germany.
Some letters will have accents, and recently have noticed that letters with an accent do not appear in the LCDs ROM.
Ime using LCDs RAM for some graphics, and as lots of text must be displayed, I wouldnt like to "draw" each accentuated letter.
The question is this: how do people from Brazil, Italy, France, Germany and other countries do for displaying accentuated letters ? You do not show them or what ? How could I solve it ?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks, Gabriel.- |

Have had the same problem in the past. Solved it with a graphic LCD.
Maybe it helps you. |

Thanks for replying. Ive thought about that. Problem is Im using a 20x4 big character LCD, wich is a lot bigger than a graphic LCD that may be on a similar price (big size is very important), so I prefer to use the character LCD.
Doesnt anyone have the same problem ?
How does people from France or Germany do, when have to show accentuated letters like or ?
Thanks in advance. Gabriel.- |

A character LCD that uses a HD44780 compatible controller should be
able to hold eight custom characters.
There are many web pages on this. Here is one of them:

Scroll down near the bottom, where he has a photo of little hearts and
sections of a big heart. |
