Hello Everyone,
I got a problem and I am not sure that this belong to Hardware or software.
My problem is following.
First of all, I am using PIC 16f877, 2840 development board, CCS C compiler and Hyper terminal.
Now I am trying to design a small boat and I hope when I turn on the power, it can run the code automatically.
Actually, before I put this small toy boat on the water, I always have to connect the rs232 to my boat and type the "g !" on the Hyper terminal window to start my code and then I remove the rs232. After I remove the rs232 cable, I can put it on the water. Now I hope that I can skip the complicated steps and I can just turn on the power which is from a battery to run the program.
I knew that there are lots of toys have this function. It is just like WooWee toys or others. I mean that we can just turn on the power of the toy and then the toy can do its task.
Any help will be very very appreciated.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely, |

I've never seen a PIC not just start after a clean power-up unless it was broken. Yours is running after some RS232 communication so I suspect the problem is in your software.
If you post your code, I suspect you'll be helped very quickly to locate the problem.
Also, what does this "g !" stand for, it looks like some kind of command?
Cheers,

You're using a Basic Micro board, and you're using their programmer
or possibly a bootloader. You should ask about how to use their
products on their forum:
