Hay Jerry

yup, lots of ways to do the job but I gather there might not be a lot of cash available and skill level is important as well. My last method while the cost of PICs is steep, the R&D time(and money !) is low.Once the first PIC 'mini control board' is up and running, just make 35 copies.Code is super simple,PCB probably a single sided unit, even 'perfboard' or wirewrap( is that still done ??)
I know your way is great for high speed animation but is more complex code and the OP might spend a LOT of R&D time(and money.again !) getting it up and running.
Without knowing all the 'details' it's hard to decide on the 'best' method that's why my one PIC,8 switches, 8 bicolour LEDS per board makes sense to me.It's an easy, simple solution both in hardware and software.

PS, I'm about 70 KM due west of you !!

Hey Jay

I agree that my PCB will definitely be much more complex.

But if its only going to show status light, I would say the the coding is very simple.

Hello guys!
Thank you for your help! All ideas were very positive!
I already decided way! I'll have 1 MASTER and 9 SLAVES. All communicate via RS485!
Why 9 SLAVES? 576 / 64 = 9. Each SLAVES will be 16 IOs to read the switches (8x8 matrix) and set 64 LEDs.
I already bought the WS8212, LT8500 and HT1632C.
But, I'll start by testing the WS8212. I think the latency to control 64 WS8212 is low. And the WS8212 is nice because lets create any color.
The LT8500 and HT1632C will be B plan. Smile
