You are right. I used the INTRC_IO and it allowed me to use RA4 and RA5 as digital inputs. Can you tell me which oscillator this function uses? Is it the calibrated or uncalibrated one?

That was the one item missing from my program. Do you know where I can find information on what each #fuse function does? I did receive a list from CCS but while it is a big help it doesn't tell what each function does. Many are obvious to me but many are not!

Now I will eliminate the assembly commands one by one by using the functions I know and will investigate the ones I don't. Thanks again for your help. You and everyone that replied. I am looking forward to being able to help others myself.

Are you talking about the fuses.txt file ? That file comes with the IDE
version of the compiler. Data Dynamics, a CCS dealer in Japan, has
posted a copy of it here:
http://www.datadynamics.co.jp/ccscc/faq/Fuses.txt

If you have MPLAB 8.92 or MPLAB X installed, you can look in
c:\program files\microchip\mpasm suite\p16f690.inc
or
c:\program files\microchip\mplabx\mpasmx\p16f690.inc
and you will see a list similar to fuses.txt.

If you want more explanation than that, you must look in the Configuration
bits section of the PIC data sheet.
