Feel free to disagree...

It finally dawned on me that if I have fewer than the max pulses I will still make my way down through the rest of the IF ELSE statements and count the lows. This will never come out right as written.

I am curious though. What is it about floating point variables that caught your attention? I am just learning micros.

quick answer...
Floating point 'math' consumes a HUGE amount of time with really very,very little benefit. PICs( all 'micros') were NOT designed as heavy math 'crunchers'. Others can point out how to use scaled integers and get far faster/better math.
