Check the pot data sheet and make sure you are not transmitting the clock to fast. Also look at the time between transmits( packets of data), you may be sending them to rapidly. The pot may still be processing the first command when it is interrupted and does who knows what?

Ttelmah, do you have pic/diagram/anything to help me out here?

This is still kind of a problem, I'm busy at work with a lot of things but this is still troubling me...

How does the voltage sink part work ?

Haven't you received the diagram I allready sent?.
Basically, the circuit, is a simple overview, of a voltage adjustable _current sink_ (not 'voltage sink'). The current drawn by the cicuit, is adjusted by the pot value. The 'neat' thing, is that firstly this removes the need to draw any significant current through the pot, and secondly, it makes the behaviour more or less independant of the cable lengths involved. Once a 'current' is selected and set, to simulate the 'local' behaviour with a particular resistance, within the limits (obviously if the resistance in the cables as a whole rises beyond 100ohms, and slightly limited by the voltage drop of the drive transistor), the results will be the same, if twenty feet of cable are then added. This is why this type of circuit is commonly used for sending such analogue signals in instrumentation.
