OK, I got curious... so I cut '1Hz LED' code, internal osc and nomclr. It compiles and PK3 likes it BUT I haven't a PIC to try to program, arrgh... I was sure I had 3 of them as samples as the number sounded 'familiar'. |

I was thinking of passing on PIC16F785 which is updated to PIC16F1709. PIC16F1508 is also something that looks possible. Unfortunately the price is a problem for me. The PicKit3 is not available anymore, it got broken. |

There are 'clones' of the PK3 available and seem to work, though they probbaly won't program newer PICs. Microchip forced me to upgrade from the reliable PICstart+ years ago. Then again, not too many PCs have REAL comports these days
I would suggest finding a 'does-most-things' PIC. One with lots of memory, 2 HW UARTs, etc. I settled for the 'then new' 18F46K22, 40 pin, years ago and use the smaller 26K22 28 pin version. |
