Hi all,
I received the standard email informing me of the new release as shown here:
Quote: | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CUSTOM COMPUTER SERVICES, INC.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A new release of the CCS C compiler for PICmicro(r) microcontrollers
has been released. The new version is: 3.185
Recent changes include:
3.185 Error reporting has been improved
3.185 A problem with two dim arrays in the COFF debug file is fixed
3.185 A new #device option now prevents WRITE_EEPROM from waiting for the write
3.185 A new directive #fill_rom allows filling unused ROM with a fixed data
word
3.185 Updates for the newest chips |
It would be really nice if there was more detail than provided. Does anybody know if this is available somewhere? For example, how has error reporting been improved, and how does WRITE_EEPROM function work on the old version, versus the new? Maybe if I knew the detail, I'd be inclined to think its worth paying for an upgrade.
I checked the downloadable compiler manual pdf, but it is still the July 2003 version.

I looked at the readme file too and nothing there either. I guess thats all we get for our nickel.
Oh well, at least they are doing something even if they aren't telling us what it is....
I wait with bated breath! |

Writing a byte to EEPROM takes around 5mS. During that 5 mS other task may be performed. This allows better multitasking software without having to go to assembly language. Interupts are processed without excessive delays. |

I'm not sure if you have been to the web link:
http://www.ccsinfo.com/versions.shtml
It gives a full list of versions along with a single line descriptor of what is included. Again it does not have the detail you are looking for. But try contacting CCS - I'm sure they would oblige you with the details you require. _________________ Alan Murray |
