CCS programmers |

Am I the only one that uses CCS prorammers. I own a Picstart Plus, Microchip ICD I, Microchip ICD II, a couple of CCS ICDs and a CCS Mach-X.
I use the CCS ICD for all my in-circuit stuff and the Mack-X for all my socketed stuff.
The CCS ICD is small, so I carry it around with my laptop for field upgrades.
The Mach-X is powered by USB and does not require external power like the Picstart Plus. The Mach-X also has a start button so that if you are programming multiple ICs, you can simply socket the IC and press the button. Sadly, this restart button does not seem to be supported by the CCS IDE YET, but it does work perfectly if you use the Mach-X programmer software.
My vote goes for the CCS ICD and Mach-X, they are cheap, well supported and are produced by your favourite compiler company.
Another reason for looking at the CCS ICD and Mach-X is that if you purchase them in combination wih CCS development kits, or compiler upgrades, your overall development gear cost is reduced dramatically.
No I don't work for CCS

Interesting, I have a Promate II and it never works on Windows 98SE or Windows 2K(sp3)... I can only make it work using Real DOS(6.22) and comamnd line... Microchip sent a replacement and it was the same...
It would be correct to assume my computer has a strange/faulty Serial port, however that would then have to be the case for the 4 other computers I tried it on.
I interested to know if you had any problems at all and which OS are you running it on ?
Thanks

Where to find the 6-bit programming commands source code? |

Hello Tomi. I'm trying to make my own programmer too. I already have the hardware and the PC software with the communication to the programmer PIC, but I need now the primitive routines to program the midline devices (the programming command set). Do you know where to find them? Thanks.

1. You have the source code for PIC inside the programmer so you can extend the functionality for new chips (to implement the new 18F series it was a hour or two).
2. You have the source code for PC so mine is running under every OSs but DOS (Win95,98,Me,NT4.0,2k,XP, etc.)
3. (Many $) * (many users) = (too many $) Here at the company everybody has a PIC programmer plus there are 2 or 3 additional programmers in battery-powered service suitcases
:=Hi
:=I want to know which programmer you use and your comments about it.
:=Thanks you
