What part of EEPROM is already used?

I'm a little embarrassed to ask this.
Does the compiler use ANY of the EEPROM to store strings and the like?
Or is it all available to me to be used as I wish. I plan on using the typemod feature and a My_write_eprom routine to read before write as to not wear out the eprom.

The EEPROM is off limits to the compiler. It's all yours.
