ICD Driver Problem
PostPosted: Thu Jan 04, 2007 12:27 am     Reply with quote

Hello,

I am a beginner, I am trying to learn Zigbee using CCS - Wireless - ZMD development kit.

I first popped in the compiler CD, installed all the software it had on it. I connected my ICD-U40 to my development board and then connected it to my PC using the USB port. It says found new hardware and is asking me to install the drivers, I asked it to search for drivers in the CD-ROM but no luck. For some reason the ICD-U40 Drivers did not install. I tried to reinstall the drivers from D:/USB-Driver ..... still no luck :(

When I run ICD.exe my COM port is on 3 and when I press connect it says "Could Not connect: Cannot detect ICD type"

Why cannot I install such a simple driver? Did I miss something ?

A quick response would be greatly appreciated! Smile

Thank you

Thanks for a quick reply Smile .... but unfortunately I tried that procedure last night but still had no luck.

Here is a screenshot of what happens when I try to specify the location of the usb drivers

it says the driver cannot be reached Sad

One more thing:

When I try to run the setup_drivers.exe ..... I get this screen

I never get any dialog boxes as the .exe file mentions Shocked ..... I just get the "found new hardware wizard" ........ After a while I just click "NEXT" and it tells me that it finished installing the drivers but it does not Shocked

Please guide me on how to fix this problem Sad

I can't help any more because I don't have an ICD-U40. I use the
Microchip ICD2. I suggest that you telephone CCS tech support.

You can download it from this page:
http://www.ccsinfo.com/downloads.php

Scroll down to where it says:

ICD Software
Here is the current software for the CCS ICD modules (all ICD-U and
ICD-S units are supported). This stand-alone software allows you to
in-circuit serially program flash Microchip PICmicro MCUs using the
CCS ICD modules.

I don't have the CCS IDE, so I can't help you directly, but in MPLAB
in the setup window for the ICD2, it has a drop-down box labeled
"Com Port". It has choices for

USB
Com1
Com2
Com3

I have it set for USB, because that's how I'm connecting the ICD2 to
my PC.

In your PICC directory there should be a USB TOOLS ditrectory. In that directory find the .INF file
and right click on it and select INSTALL.

In case someone else has the same problem, this should help Smile
